When I look back at my life, I realize how much I learned from my playground days. The events that take place throughout those early years are essential in shaping the individuals we become, though what is even more important is how we choose to handle those experiences. I believe that each and every event in our lives has a purpose, and examining our existence can lead to some amazing discoveries.
In this blog I hope to make some discoveries to pass on to my children, whom I want to raise to be great adventurers in the playground of life. I pray that they will use every opportunity to play, explore, learn, grow, and love.
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” – C.S. Lewis
And in the vulnerability of love, we actually find the greatest strength we’ve ever known. It takes a strong soul to live life with an unguarded heart, as we do in childhood, but love can also lead us down some incredible paths where we gain knowledge, truth, understanding…
We are all searching for the same thing – an all-inclusive, far-reaching, unobstructed view of life. A panoramic playground.
Thanks for visiting,
Rachel
